…I won’t pass up free coffee too. I may need the fortification after casting my ballot.

Metal Head

Chipotle had a deal yesterday – if you came dressed in tinfoil like a burrito, you’d get a free meal. DH got in the spirit. Unfortunately when we drove up, the line stretched down the block and around the corner. We had dinner at IHOP instead. And DH didn’t get to show anyone his tinfoil head.

Why do I always seem to be making constipated expressions in pictures?

Happy Halloween! I love celebrating the one day of the year when I can dress funny and no one cares. Today I’m the ghost of my former self. (Pictures later because I forgot to bring my camera with me this morning.) There are at least five of us here dressed for the day. We’ve got a tacky tourist, a fairy, Waldo, and a lipstick librarian.

The goodie bags for our student workers are a big hit. I love putting those together every year. I won’t have many student workers at my new job. So, all my new employees will benefit next year.

I’ve already done a round of candy distribution to children this morning. The preschool on campus brought the kids around to the library. I think we were close to the end of their candy collection rounds because they kids were drooping. And they were on their second bags of candy! We’ve got a generous bunch of people on this campus. It was so much fun to see all their cute costumes. We had ladybugs, football players, a robot, princesses, fairies, a monster, and a birthday present.

Have a safe and fun Halloween and Samhain.

I have a friend who’s going through some tough family stuff right now. I wish that there was something I could say to help or something I could do to make things better. Because she’s been there for me many times when I’ve needed it. For now, I’m just offering support and listening.

I also continued in my growing process today by asking for some help and not getting stressed out. I’ve got a few things that have to be taken care of by the end of the week, partly because of vacation and partly just because that’s how it is. So, I asked for a day off the desk to concentrate on what I need to do. Turns out I’ve gained a bit of time tomorrow since a meeting was canceled, so with that and a mostly free Thursday (except for a department meeting in the morning) to work on some things. That way Friday will be all about finishing touches.

I’ve honestly not been knitting much this week yet. I started another bathmat (that will actually be a bathmat this time around.)

And now for a couple of pictures. The first is the baking I did a couple of weekends ago. The rolls were a bit odd tasting. I think I need some new flour. Actually I know I do because the chocolate cashew bars had the same odd flavor. They also didn’t hold together as well as I could have like so I think they needed to be in the oven a bit longer.

The second picture shows my new hair. The cut is pretty similar to what I’ve been doing for the past few months, although this time I had a stylist who actually did it really well. (Too bad she’s moving to St. Louis. It was her last day.) But I went crazy and bought one of those fun highlighting kits, so my hair now has purplish/red tips. I don’t care that I’m 36, I wanted to try something different. Excuse the fact that I’m generally not photogenic.
