Lant and oogy

Posted on: August 16, 2008

Thanks to the local Redbox, I watched four movies this week that I hadn’t seen yet.

The Other Boyelan Girl – I must say this was a waste of a dollar. The book was long, but whoever did the adaptation for the film really didn’t get it. So much was left out that the movie made no sense. Like Mary meeting the king and basically falling in love with him and sleeping with him in the span of 60 seconds. Bad movie and really sucky adaptation. Don’t waste your time with the movie; the book is where it’s at.

Juno
– I’ll be renting this one again. In fact, I’ll probably just buy it. There were so many great lines in this movie, which is the reason I’m going to make DH watch it sometime. It was so quirky, funny, honest, and surprising. And it had a great soundtrack that I plan to add to my pod.

Shutter – Kind of creepy, but not really. If you’re not into horror films at all, don’t bother with this one. And if you are, don’t bother. It wasn’t really all that scary or suspenseful. Yet, I was still entertained. It was only $1 to rent, so I don’t feel bad about the choice. Just wouldn’t recommend it.

Cloverfield – This one was filmed like Blair Witch Project, a movie I wasn’t particularly fond of. In a nutshell, big morphed spider thing with little spider things dropping off it terrorizes New York City. Lots of explosions, a bit of gore, some suspense, and not at all scary. In the end New York City gets blown up. Maybe this would have been better in 3D in a theater.

So, that has been my experience with Redbox so far. I really like the convenience and there is a good selection of fairly recent stuff.

I love that redbox, I wish I would of thought of it genious.

I felt the same way about The Other Boleyn girl. Granted, it was such a long story to tell in a short movie but they really missed SO much & told a different tale than was presented in the book.

Cloverfield was worse in the theaters. I got motion sick during and left. LOL
